You know how the saying goes: “If life gives you lemons, make a lemonade!”. However, for the purpose of this article, we’re changing that to “when life gives you lemons, put them in the freezer”.

The healthiest thing about lemons isn’t the fruit itself – lemon peel has far more health benefits than it. People usually throw the peels away thinking they’re not important, but the truth is that lemon peels contain far more vitamins and minerals essential for the proper functioning of your body.

That’s not to say that the fruit isn’t beneficial itself – it contains more vitamin C than most fruits, and is also an excellent source of vitamin A, B6 and E. The tropical fruit also contains iron, riboflavin, phosphorus, folate, potassium, magnesium and protein.

If you want to get the most out of lemons, you should freeze them before use, of course after cleaning the fruit well and leaving it to dry. When the lemons are completely frozen, you can start using them.

The first thing you should do is to cut off one of the ends, then grind that side like cheese. This will help you avoid cutting yourself. Store the gratings in a Ziploc bag and use them in any way you like. The lemony shreds will add a refreshing flavor to your meals and drinks and will still provide numerous health benefits that will improve your overall health.
